EEE+ RapidReturn

Scan and return exams & assignments quickly and easily!
What is RapidReturn?

RapidReturn is a partnership between the Office of Information Technology and UCI Transportation & Distribution Services.

This service enables instructors to return large numbers of documents, such as exams and papers, to students quickly and securely.

The RapidReturn service uses high-speed imaging technology to create individually labeled PDF files for each student exam. The entire set of scanned, graded exams can be easily downloaded by faculty in a ZIP archive and distributed back to students online.

How much does it cost?

There is a minimum charge of $20 per job.

  • Standard paper exams: $0.08 per one-side page print
  • Scantron exams: $0.10 per one-side page print

For example, a 4 page, single-side exam for a class of 400 students would cost approximately $128.

How do I use RapidReturn?

RapidReturn is split into two distinct parts: scanning and distributing. Scanning activites are coordinated with Scanning Services, and returning activities are coordinated with the Office of Information Technology.

Scanning

If you have questions about scanning or exam pickup, contact Scanning Services: (949) 824-4147

  1. Create your cover sheets
  2. Attach the cover sheets to your exams or other assignment (use a single staple to expedite scanning)
  3. Direct your students to fill out the cover sheet at exam time with their name, student ID #, and the date
  4. Collect and grade the exams
  5. Schedule a pickup for processing and scanning
  6. Wait for Scanning Services to complete processing and scanning - EEE will contact you when your files are ready to return, typically within 3 business days
Distributing

If you have questions about returning exams, contact the EEE Support Team: eee@uci.edu (949) 824-2222

You will recieve an email from EEE once your exam or other assignment is ready to return.

  1. View your RapidReturn archives
  2. Click on the exam or assignment archive you wish to distribute to your students
  3. Review any notices or warnings, including students without files or files that didn't match any students
  4. When you're ready, press the Release to my students button

Your students will then recieve an email with instructions on how to retrieve their returned files.

How do I download my files?

When your instructor releases an exam or assignment to you, we'll send you an email with instructions on how to access your file.

Files will remain available to you on EEE+ RapidReturn until either 6 weeks after the quarter ends, or until your instructor opts to un-distribute the exams.
